Sunscreens: My 5 Current Favorite Sunscreen Products

If you are to ask me what the best anti-aging product is, I would say it’s atleast SPF 25 sunscreen with PA++. This is because 80 to 90% of the visible signs of aging is caused by UV damage. The use of sunscreen is a very effective preventive approach in delaying the signs of aging.

In this post I am going to share to you my favorite sunscreen products and Why I love using them. Take note though that these are  my current favorites and it may change in the future as I keep on discovering new products.

1. Ponds Flaweless White BB+ with SPF 25 PA ++

Why I love This Product:

  • It has a nice dewy, BB Cream finish. It has a nice and smooth coverage. Though it doesn’t last all day (about good 4 hours maybe) it is still a good product with decent UV protection.
  • The product is available almost anywhere in the Philippines. You can buy this at any pharmacy and even at the grocery.

The downside:

This product doesn’t give you the best UV protection, though it’s a good product for everyday use, if you do not expect long sun exposure.

How much?

This product is sold at PHP 299 per 25 gram tube, which gives you PHP 12 pesos per gram.

2. Celeteque Suncare Matte Moisturizer with SPF 30

The reason why I included this is that  I grow up using this sunscreen and I have established a special, emotional bond with the sunscreen. It’s the same product that my Mom have been using for years, which is also something I already got used to.

Why I love this Product:

  • Though SPF value is quite low, it has a nice profile of sunscreen agents. It contains 4 types of chemical UV protectants and a physical UV protectant (titanium dioxide) -meaning it’s really an broad spectrum sunscreen and gives decent protection against UVA and UVB rays.
  • It’s claims to be matte finish – which is correct. It contains aluminum starch Aluminum Starch Octenylsuccinate – which can absorb oil.

The downside:

  • The ingredient that gives it a matte finish, which is something I like, is also the same ingredient that gives the product it’s major drawback – it feels sticky on the skin, especially when you’re out in a humid environment while wearing it.
  • It can leave a white cast on your face because of titanium dioxide present in the product.

How much?

This is sold for only PHP 230. pesos per 50 mL  that is, PHP 4.6 pesos per mL. Currently the cheapest sunscreen in my stash.

3. Innisfree Daily UV Protection Cream with SPF 35, PA +++

What I love about this product:

  • The product doesn’t feel heavy on the skin at all. My skin feels moisturized for hours while wearing
  • It is not tinted and doesn’t leave a white cast, which is a good product to use under your foundation

How much?

This is sold for PHP 650 pesos per 50 mL tube, PHP 13 per mL.

4. Biore Aqua Rich Watery BB with SPF 50 PA+++

What I love about this product:

  • I love that it has high SPF and PA values but does not feel heavy on the skin
  • It has a very nice BB cream finish. It’s perfect for days when I don’t feel like wearing foundation but neither am I too confident to showcase my naked face.

The Downside:

It has only one shade. The shade is a little lighter for my skin tone.

How much?

This is sold at 450.00 per 33 grams – PHP 13.5 pesos per gram.

5. Biore Aqua Rich Water Essence with SPF 50 PA ++++

What I love about this product:

  • It is available in 15 gram tube, which is very convenient to carry around for times when I need some reapplication.
  • It has really light texture. It’s not sticky at all, and it dries up easily after application.
  • It’s watery texture gives it an excellent spreadability. A little drop like this would give a good coverage for your face. So it’s ever economical
  • It contains hyaluronic acid, an extremely moisturizing on the skin. This molecule has interesting capacity to attract vast amounts of moisture, and draws it in to the skin for hydration.
  • It does not contain zinc oxide or titanium dioxide – ingredients that are usually present in most sunscreens. Though these are safe and very effective UV protectants, these ingredients are usually responsible for the white cast after application.
  • It has the SPF 50, with PA ++++ protection. This is currently my sunscreen with the highest UV protection rating.

The downside:

I don’t like the citrus fragrance but i can totally live with it.

How much?

It is mostly available in 50 gram tube, sold at PHP 445 pesos in Lazada and Watsons store. That gives you PHP 8.9 pesos per gram.

So that’s it. I hope you find this post helpful. See you in my next post.
